“Stitch our Stories” workshop at the Boulder Public LIbrary. Summer 2021

“Stitch our Stories” workshop at the Boulder Public LIbrary. Summer 2021

The “Stitch our Stories” workshop developed out of discussions with local organizations who wanted to offer their communities a way to creatively express their pandemic experiences locally. This is a smaller, more flexible iteration of the larger Stitching the Situation project, and can be facilitated virtually or in-person as COVID-19 protocols permit. Each group creates individual stitched pieces that measure about 6” square, which are exhibited together upon completion. These can be collected by a local institution, held within the organization’s archive, or returned to the participants after exhibition.

Workshop details

I work with organizations to adapt my workshops to the unique needs and abilities of their communities. I follow a collaborative, participant-led model which centers the concerns of the local community, in both the process and product, by sharing leadership and decision making to empower communities to tell their stories in their own words and style.

This process can be fully virtual, fully in-person, or a combination of the two as COVID-19 protocols and participant preferences permit. Written instructions, worksheets and instructional videos are available on this website for additional support to accommodate various learning styles and abilities. My fees are contingent upon time required to plan, promote and execute the workshop we develop, and can be tailored to fit your budget.

Workshop development and execution is as follows:

1- Initial organizational meeting(s)

2- Workshop kit creation (kits range from $5-10 ea., or more, per materials included)

3- Workshop(s)

4- Exhibition of completed work

Please contact me with any questions, or to discuss how we can work together.
